What type of bag user are you? Do you change your bag to co-ordinate with every outfit? Maybe you have a favourite bag which holds your essentials and goes with everything? Or perhaps you have one enormous bag which contains your entire life?
We pretty much all have at least one bag – it’s a staple item for everyday use. For some, bags become a passion (read: addiction) which can take over their wardrobe. Carefully-curated bag collections help to finish off any outfit perfectly; I admire those who have the patience and dedication to strive for this level of perfection.
I love bags – I design and make them – but I have to confess that it’s quite rare for me to switch up my bag when I leave the house. Often it’s because I am trialling a new design so I need to test it to the extreme before putting the design into production.
Evening bags are different though: I juggle which bag to use, not just to match the dress, but also to match the occasion. An evening of dancing calls for a bag with a wrist or crossbody strap, whereas a simple clutch is perfect for evenings sat at a bar or table. My most difficult choice is usually between simple and elegant or beaded and sparkly.
(Though let’s be honest, beaded and sparkly always wins!)
So once you have your bag, what do you carry around?
I prefer a smaller bag as I don’t carry much with me – keys, glasses, purse, phone, lipstick, and notebook. Some of my friends have bags full of pockets and compartments which are filled with all sorts of paraphernalia. It’s as though they are going on an incredible adventure and have packed for every eventuality.
I have learnt from experience that the bigger the bag, the more I carry for others in my family usually BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T BRING A BAG AT ALL!
